Add your prop firm challenge's limits to your MT5 EA

MetaTrader 5. Pick your challenge, drop your .mq5 file or paste the code, and click Add the shield.

Prewritten code and an AI report, to review: compile it in MetaEditor and test it on a demo account before you rely on it. It can't prevent a loss.

Your code is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to read it, and handled under its data policy. The AI doesn't change it. We don't save the code as you send it, but the finished file we keep, so you can download it again, contains it. Only send code you have the right to use and change.

How it works

  1. Pick your challenge — Choose your firm, program and phase, or enter your firm's numbers. You see its limits straight away, and where the shield acts: below them by default, to leave room for slippage.
  2. Add your EA — The .mq5 source file. The shield goes above and below your EA's own lines, which stay as they are. The AI reads your EA, and doesn't change it.
  3. See the risks, then download — You see what the shield will do and what could still cost you the challenge for free. Pay once to download. Then compile it in MetaEditor and test it on a demo account.

Sample report: Breakout EA.

  • Lot doubles after each loss. After a losing trade the lot is doubled, so 1, 2, 4, 8 lots until a trade wins. A short losing run can pass the daily line and the firm's limit in one fast move, before the shield can close.
  • No stop loss on any trade. Trades are sent with a stop loss of 0. Nothing limits a trade on the broker's side until the shield closes it, and a gap can carry the close past its line.
  • Removes itself if an order is refused. If an order fails, the EA takes itself off the chart. That can happen at the moment a line is reached, and it wouldn't come back by itself on the new day.
  • No news or weekend handling. It trades at any hour and can hold a position over a weekend. The shield doesn't know the calendar, so check your firm's rules on both.

What the shield does

  • Watches equity, with open trades and costs, on every tick and every second, across the whole account
  • At the daily line, closes every trade and pending order and stops until the new day
  • At the overall line, fixed or trailing, closes everything and stops
  • At the profit target, closes everything and stops
  • Stops your EA from sending new orders while it's stopped
  • Shows where you stand on the chart, with your trading days counted

What it doesn't do

  • It can't prevent a loss. It closes after equity reaches a line, and a fast move, a gap or slippage can carry the close past that line and past your firm's limit.
  • It acts only while MetaTrader is running and connected.
  • It closes other EAs' trades and your manual trades at a line, but it can't stop them from opening new ones.
  • It doesn't check your firm's other rules: news, weekends, consistency, copy trading, or whether your firm allows this EA at all.
  • It doesn't place trades for you. If your target is reached before your minimum trading days, the chart says so, and the rest is up to you.
  • Passing depends on your firm and on your trading. Nothing here means you'll pass, or that this EA will make money.

What catches EAs out on a prop firm challenge

The rules are short to read and easy for an EA to miss. These are the usual ones:

Open trades count toward the daily loss

FTMO and FundedNext both count floating losses, swaps and commissions. An EA that only adds up its closed trades can pass the limit without seeing it.

The firm's clock decides when a day starts

FTMO's day starts at midnight Central European time, FundedNext's at midnight server time. An EA that uses the PC's clock measures the wrong day.

A percentage of what?

FTMO's 2-Step daily line is the balance when the day starts, minus 5% of the starting capital. On a $100,000 account at $104,000, that line is $99,000, not 5% below today's balance.

Overall loss can be fixed or trailing

On FTMO's 2-Step it stays 10% below the starting capital. On its 1-Step it moves up with the highest balance at the start of a day, and never comes back down.

Trading on after the target

An EA doesn't know it has reached the target, so it can keep trading and give the profit back. Some challenges also need a minimum number of trading days, such as 4 on FTMO's 2-Step.

Firms have their own rules on EAs

FundedNext allows EAs only on accounts under $50,000, for a fee. Firms also limit things like very fast trading and shared strategies. No code settles this: check your firm's rules.

Pricing

Adding the shield is free: you see what it will do, the report and a preview of the code. You pay once to download the file, and the price is shown before you pay. It includes AI revisions, and no developer fix. No subscription.

Questions

Does it mean I'll get through my challenge?

No one can promise that. The shield closes trades at the lines you set. It doesn't make a strategy good, and a fast move or a gap can pass its lines. Whether you get through depends on your firm and your trading. Trading can lose money.

Does it change my strategy?

No. The shield is prewritten code, and it goes above and below your EA's own lines, which stay as they are. The AI reads your EA and doesn't edit it, unless you ask for a revision. Once it's unlocked, you can compare the two files line by line. While the shield has stopped, your EA doesn't run.

Which firms does it work with?

We list FTMO and FundedNext programs, with their published limits and the date we read them. For any other firm on MT5, enter its numbers yourself. Every number can be changed, on the page and later in the EA's inputs.

Does my firm allow this?

Ask your firm: it has its own rules on EAs, and we can't answer for it. FundedNext, for example, allows EAs only on accounts under $50,000, for a fee, and bans EAs made specifically to pass challenges.

What happens when it reaches a line?

It closes every position and pending order on the account, including other EAs' and your manual ones. At the daily line it stops until the new day. At the overall line and at the profit target it stops until you clear that in the EA's inputs.

Can I use it on a .ex5 file or an MT4 EA?

No. The shield goes in the source code, so it needs the .mq5 file. MT4 code can go through our MQL4 to MQL5 converter first. An EA that uses #import can't take it, because a compiled library could send orders the shield can't see.

Does MetaTrader have to stay open?

Yes. The shield acts only while MetaTrader is running and connected, so traders often keep it on a VPS.

Will the file compile?

PositionAlpha doesn't compile or test the file, so compile it yourself in MetaEditor and test it on a demo account. If it shows errors, paste them on the result page for an AI revision.

Does a developer check the file?

No. The shield is prewritten code, and the report and any revisions come from AI. A fix by a developer comes with our bots and conversions, not with this.

Do you keep my code?

PositionAlpha doesn't save the code as you send it. It's sent to our AI provider to read it. We keep your challenge, the report and the finished file, which contains your EA, so you can download it again.

How much does it cost?

Adding the shield and seeing the report is free. Downloading the file is a one-time payment, shown before you pay, and it includes AI revisions.
